Exciting Times for Entrepreneurs

The Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Board has recently announced that it will be upgrading local contractors to qualify for higher codes effectively enabling them to compete for high value jobs, and most importantly to compete with international companies who have been benefitting highly from the previous dispensation, this is exciting news for our country, and the youth in particular who have been afforded a 20% quota on Jobs from Government. This development will work well towards encouraging our local entrepreneurs to work hard at ensuring delivery, it will further enable them to compete in the international community after having been given the opportunity to handle large contracts here at home. I am not against international companies, i however still maintain that they should work towards partnering with locals in their operations as a way of empowering Batswana. We hope that the Government will continue on this path and will continue working towards empowering the private sector, and local entrepreneurs with it. We need to further strengthen our intellectual property laws, there has been calls for the protection of intellectual property given out through unsolicited bids. This blog continues to encourage you as Botswana, and young people in Botswana to be specific, to seek for opportunities and to actively pursue them. Look for international partners and expand beyond our border.
